SkinPen microneedling: collagen, rebuilt from the inside
Microneedling with the first FDA-cleared device in the US, with optional PRP.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-punctures in the skin. Those micro-injuries trigger your body's natural healing response and increase production of collagen and elastin: the proteins responsible for firmness and elasticity. The process is known as dermal remodelling, and it is the reason results keep improving for weeks after a session.
Pulse uses the SkinPen, the first microneedling device FDA-cleared in the United States. Needle depth is adjusted to your goals, topical numbing is applied beforehand and NitroNox nitrous oxide is available for additional comfort.
Because it is minimally invasive, surface damage is limited: less downtime, less discomfort, and a quick return to your normal skincare routine.
What microneedling can help with
- Skin rejuvenation and enlarged pores
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne and acne scarring
- Stretch marks
- Surgical scarring
- Melasma and skin hyperpigmentation
Topical treatment add-ons
PRP, exosomes or PDRN may be applied topically as an add-on after microneedling. Your provider will recommend an option according to your skin and treatment goals.
PRP is prepared from your own blood and delivers concentrated growth factors into the repair process through the channels created by SkinPen.
What a session looks like
Your provider cleanses the skin and applies topical numbing. NitroNox nitrous oxide is also available. Once you are comfortable, the SkinPen is passed over the treatment area at a depth chosen for your concern: shallower for general rejuvenation and pigment, deeper for acne scarring and textural remodelling.
If you have chosen PRP, a small amount of blood is drawn and spun to concentrate the platelets before it is applied. Exosomes and PDRN are also available as topical add-ons. Expect the skin to look flushed afterwards, similar to a sunburn, settling over the following day or two.
Planning a course
Collagen remodelling is cumulative. Textural and scarring concerns typically need a series spaced several weeks apart, with results continuing to develop between sessions. Your provider will map the number of sessions at consultation rather than after you have started.
Between sessions, sun protection matters more than any product you can buy: particularly for melasma and hyperpigmentation, which can be driven backwards by UV exposure.
Where microneedling fits with our other skin treatments
Microneedling is one of three routes to skin quality at Pulse. Jet Plasma is needle-free and works well for patients who want no downtime. NOUVADerm works at greater depth for laxity and more advanced resurfacing. Your provider will recommend based on your skin, your timeline and how much recovery you can absorb.
